What an amazing Jubilee weekend we had at the Community Hall. Susan Horrocks and her Team excelled themselves over the Jubilee weekend to provide celebrations we will all remember for years to come. A dance and Hog Roast on Saturday evening followed by Afternoon Tea on Monday catered for all tastes. We even had a visit from a ‘Royal’ personage. Even the weather was on our side as we avoided the rain on Sunday. I wish to say a personnel ‘thank you’ to all those who made this weekend so enjoyable.
The last four months at the Community Hall has been busy. We welcomed two new Representatives, Mr Peter McDade, representing the Historical Society and Mrs Joan Croasdale, representing Brindle St. James’s Church and the Mothers’ Union. We also welcomed two new User Groups.
A team of eager Trustees met one Friday evening to do the six monthly tidy up of the grounds, thank you to all who were involved and for giving up your Friday evening. The driveway leading to the rear car parking facility has been re-stoned and I would like to thank Richard Hopcraft for his assistance in doing this, also a thank you to the ‘Cranshaw’ family for organising the delivery of the bark to enhance our flower/plant borders.
The Hall closed in August for two weeks, for our Annual Maintence work to be carried out. It’s surprising how soon this comes around. By the time it re – opens in September we should have heard whether we have managed to regain the title of ‘Best Kept Village Hall’ which we won in 2010.
Brindle Community Hall is the place where local people meet and where local events happen, so it’s important that the Hall is maintained properly and looked after.
The Community Hall Committee ‘manage’ the administration and upkeep of the Hall – paying utility bills, collecting and banking the income from activities and
events, making sure any repairs needed are carried out, and whenever possible, bidding for funds and funding to upgrade the building and equipment.
If you have a little time to spare, a couple of hours a month – then have you considered joining TEAM BCH ?
The existing Committee consists of Stephanie Sibbles-Horridge (Acting Chairperson), Susan Horrocks (Secretary), Keith Horrocks (Treasurer) Joan Hopcraft (Assisting Treasurer), Michael Hopcraft (Maintenance Manager/Bar Licensee), Jenny Evans (Booking Secretary) and various User Group Representatives, however, a few more people would be very welcome.
Our AGM will be held on Monday 19th November 2012 at 7-45 in the BCH main Hall.
If you require any details, please contact Stephanie Sibbles-Horridge on 01254 830343 or Susan Horrocks on 01254 852173
