The new hall was officially opened today by one of Brindle’s oldest residents, 84 year old Ralph Power.
Ralph, born in Brindle in 1922, lives adjacent to the hall on Water Street. His father was a Trustee and dug the foundations for the original institute, as well as seconding the vote of thanks at the official opening back in August 1923.
The event was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Chorley, Cllr. Adrian Lowe and Lindsay Hoyle, the MP for Chorley, who proposed the vote of thanks to the Management Committee for their work on the project. Nearly 200 people attended on the day, with a further 100 attending a celebration dance in the evening.
Photographs will be on the website shortly.
